Driver's Education Sign-up

Students eligible for Driver's Ed in the Summer of 2021 will receive a letter by mail that includes a sign-up form to return to the office. We have room to accommodate 40 students and 58 students are eligible. We will prioritize those enrolled by the following order:
1.  Those who will be 16 or older.
2.  Those who need a school permit. 
3.  Those who are 14 or older and have their learner’s permit by the deadline will be on a first come first served basis.
4.  SIGN UP DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, May 14, 2021 if there are still spots open in the class. Additions after that date will only be made if room is available in the schedule.

The cost is $325.00. Students must sign up and the fee for class must be paid (or payment arrangements made) by Friday, May 14, so driving groups and the driving schedule can be ready for the Sunday, May 16, virtual student/parent DE meeting, from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

If you are planning (or have already made plans for) a vacation, camp, or other reason to miss drivers education in June, you may still be able to meet your other commitment and take driver’s education, as we have several built-in make-up days and students can pay to make up additional classes or drive time. With two built-in make-up classes, students can miss up to two classes at no extra charge. Additional make-up classes or driving time are $25 each. All missed classes or driving time must be scheduled, paid for, and made up before the last official day of driver’s education; failure to do so will result in failing the class.

There will be an important student/parent virtual meeting on Sunday, May 16, from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. These two hours will be considered class time. We will set up driving groups and times that afternoon and students who are not at the meeting will be assigned a group and driving time. Driver’s Education packets will be available for pickup in the Main Office starting May 1.

Driver’s education will start on Friday, May 28, right after school from 1:15-3:15 in the JH Commons.  After the first class, Classroom instruction will be held in the morning from 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday through the month of June. Driving sessions are held at various times through the month; students sign up for their driving groups and times during the meeting on May 16.

All students must have their permits on or before Wednesday, May 26.
